Experience Catania

Where history,

tradition and life intertwine

Belduomo Catania is located in a strategic and privileged position. We are in Piazza Stesicoro, right at the corner with Via Etnea, just a few steps from the Cathedral, the Teatro Massimo Bellini, and the city’s main attractions. The area is served by the metro just a few meters away, as well as local bus stops and tourist bus stops. In addition, shops, restaurants, and bars are all within walking distance.

Roman Amphitheatre of Catania

Among the largest in the Roman Empire, the Amphitheatre of Catania dates back to the 2nd century AD and was an important part of the city’s public life, hosting shows and combats. Expanded in the 3rd century, it was later used as a stone quarry by the Ostrogoths and, according to sources, even by Roger II for the construction of the Cathedral of Saint Agatha. After the 1693 earthquake, it was largely buried and incorporated into new buildings. Today, entering from Piazza Stesicoro, you can admire the visible remains, which represent only a small portion of the original monumental structure.

A fera 'o Luni

The market in Piazza Carlo Alberto, known as “Fera ‘o Luni” (“Monday Fair”), is—together with the Fish Market—the oldest in Catania. Open every day except Sunday, it is a lively bazaar where you can find just about everything: local food specialties, clothing, household goods, toys, fruit and vegetables, and ethnic products.

The Feast of Saint Agatha

From February 3rd to 6th, Catania comes alive to celebrate its patron saint with one of the most emotional religious events in the world. Spectacular processions, fireworks, chants, and popular traditions fill the city day and night, offering visitors a truly unique experience. From the balconies of our B&B, overlooking Via Etnea and Piazza Stesicoro, you can witness the magic of this extraordinary event up close.
